Content : "Counting by Tens is a breeze!"
Learning objectives:
During this activity, the children worked on several key math skills:

  • Number Recognition: Correctly identifying multiples of 10.
  • Pattern Recognition: Noticing the pattern that all numbers in the sequence end with a zero.
  • Place Value: Understanding that each number represents a group of ten.
  • Skip Counting: Developing fluency in counting from 10 to 100 and beyond.

 Grouping everyday objects:
We gathered a collection of small objects like buttons, beads and blocks.

  • Activity: We made students physically group the items into sets of ten and secure them with a rubber band or to place them in a small cup.
  • Practice: Count the groups by tens ("10, 20, 30...") and then count any remaining objects by ones. For example, "3 groups of ten and 4 ones make 34".
