Learning symbols became an active game! The teacher displayed different number cards to the class, and our enthusiastic students had to quickly assess the numbers and hold up the correct symbol card (9<10, 12>3, 9=9). We handed our eager learners a mixed collection of balls—ranging from tiny marbles and golf balls to medium tennis balls and giant playballs.

Comparing numbers
Learning symbols became an active game! The teacher displayed different number cards to the class, and our enthusiastic students had to quickly assess the numbers and hold up the correct symbol card (9<10, 12>3, 9=9). Moving from physical cards to written application, the students took on the challenge of filling in the correct comparison symbols on their activity sheets. To help children identify and use the greater than (9>6), less than (2<4), and equal to (10=10) symbols to compare two-digit numbers. Students will be able to visually analyze and compare two groups of physical objects using the terms more, fewer, and equal. To fill in the correct comparison symbol to make a mathematical statement true.
Big to Small, Small to Big- Activity
Step 1: Ascending Order (The Growing Line) Students started with the absolute smallest ball they could find and lined them up, one by one, until they reached the giant ball.
The Kid-Friendly Translation: "We are making a staircase that goes up!"
Step 2: Descending Order (The Shrinking Line) Next, we flipped the challenge. Students started with the biggest ball and lined them up in decreasing size down to the tiniest one.
The Kid-Friendly Translation: "We are going down the slide, from big to small!"
